Freitag, 21. Oktober 2011

Well, unfortunately one must admit that almost more people run around in the back area than on the front-line. During the night, Hirson is attacked five times by aeroplanes. One bomb comes down in a court 50 metres from our quarters.

---
Hopsital life, I like very much again. Every day my ear gets washed and anointed by a nurse. That is all. Only thing is rations are not very splendid. The building is a former teacher's seminar room and is furnished very well. Apart from the hosptial, there is also a library, a bookshop, a canteen and a hall for cinema in the building. Hence, there is plenty of distraction. After 4 to 5 days, nothing is to be seen at my ear, nevertheless I endure a strong 10 days in hospital.
Arrivo lì prima di mezzogiorno e mi dirigo all'ospedale di guerra Sassone nr. 19C. A mezzogiorno mi presento al medico e mi ricoverano al reparto ORL.---
La vita d'ospedale, mi piace molto. Ogni giorno mi fanno sciacqui all'orecchio e un'infermiera mi applica unguenti.

Later this same morning I arrive there. I show up at the ear department here in the village. But here I get rejected, since the ear department is being closed down. I get directed back to Hirson.
La mattina vado all'ospedale militare in città. Non esiste neanche qui un reparto ORL. Mi indirizzano a Vervins. Me ne torno a Hirson
