24. November 1916

In the morning, we march off with all our baggage to Vis. There we 12 are joined by another 12 from no. 2 detachment. We march together to Hendecourt. 16 men remain there. The other 8 including myself have our lunch there, send our baggage in a waggon to Chérisy and in the afternoon follow on ourselves on foot to the platoon of No. 18 Telephony double platoon that is stationed there. For quarters, we are shown to a room from which the doors and windows are missing. There are big holes in the walls. The whole room is full of rubble and stones. That same evening we throw out the rubble, rebuild and block up the holes in the walls, scatter straw on the floor and hang blankets in the window opening.
