24. Juni 1940

The billets which we found in the village are not to the liking of Lt. Hebecker; in particular not enough stabling is available to accommodate the horses. For this reason we move on to the neighbouring village of Croix. Here we start billeting all over again. In the afternoon I go to the provisions base in St. Pol. Since no provisions are being handed out before 7p.m., we have plenty of time to do some shopping. Afterwards we eat impeccably in a restaurant and the two of us pay for a chop, salad, 2 fried eggs and a big cup of soup each a total of 75 pfennig. In the evening we go to our quarters. Each of us has an immaculate bed.
