Mein Bild
In Mori (Stockelsdorf) bei Lübeck aufgewachsen, habe ich bereits von 1916 bis 1918 am Ersten Weltkrieg im Füsilierregiment "Königin" Nr. 86 teilgenommen. Im August 1939 wurde ich als Veteran in die Wehrmacht eingezogen. In diesem Blog veröffentliche ich mein Kriegstagebuch.

Abends hören wir die Rundfunkmeldung, dass Meyer-Quade in Polen gefallen ist.
 
In the evening we hear the message via radio that Meyer-Quade was killed in action in Poland.

  2. For those who don't read German, Meyer-Quade was already a member of the Nazi party in 1925.

    He achieved some prominence as a political figure in Dieter's home region of Schleswig-Holstein, in the 1920s and 30s, and the Nazis created a hero cult around him when he fell on the battlefield in the first fortnight of the war. So the fact that Dieter records the death of a "Nazi-Prominenz" doesn't really give us any clue as to his own political views, for signs of which we all still wait with bated breath!

  3. That is an interesting point. Also in the previous war he never really questioned it, rather accepted it instead as somehow "given".

    My personal opinion on his political views is that Dieter is a conservative person located in the middle layer of society. He does not seem to have extreme opinions.
