Today Dieter had a very narrow escape from death by bombs. The regimental chronicals also state bombing attacks by airplanes. Maybe this was the same squadron that also attacked him:

The following days, the retreat towards the belgian border was continued. On November 10th, the regiment crossed the border near Beaumont. On this day and days before, the regiment suffered heavy losses due to air bombs. On 10th alone, during a field worship held by Reverend Bielfeld, the regiment lost 9 dead and 21 mostly seriously wounded. These were the last losses of the regiment.

  2. Wow, actually good news, since this makes clear Dieter survives. But nevertheless tragic, being killed on the very last day before the end! How useless, since they were on retreating anyway. Wasted.
