Als Nachtrupp rücken wir der Abteilung nach über Grube Wohlfahrt, Wittscheid, Reifferscheid, Sistig nach Neddersheim. Hier wird eingemütliches, warmes Zimmer als Quartier angewiesen. Abends bekommen wir sogar Essen von unseren Quartiersleuten.

AntwortenLöschen1. Starvation was very serious in Germany since 1916. Almost one million people died from starvation. So sahring what one had was really a sacrifice.
2. There were hundreds of thoussands of soldiers marching back. Even if one shared what he had, at a certain point the will to do so might be exhausted.
It seems that the soldiers coming back from the front were received in a very warm and heartly way.
