In Wambréchies (19.

In Wambréchies (19.
Dezember 1918)

Dieter enjoyed the time in hann. Münden a lot. Apart from all the good meals that he "had to have", he was very fond of Dorchen Uckermann. In his diary, even indirectly admits to be in love with her (Jan 1st, 1919): "My landlady says, it seems I get fed by love. It also appears to me like that!"
Still being young, Dieter seems to be a little shy and to be rather inexperienced concerning women, at least according to his diary ;-)
When he did a stopover in Hamburg on his way back to the front on September 16th, 1918, he visits the Reeperbahn, but only states to have visited the Panoptikum, a wax museum. In Wilna (November 1st, 1917), a city that is even in the regimental chronicles ambiguously called "a high form of back area", there are no notes on any girls he got to know.
The "few" women, that Dieter mentions in his diary, to be summarized shortly at this point:
His first friendship he meets in Rumilly on May 7th, 1917. He "brillantly does conversation" for days with the daughter of his local host, Irma Sensée, "a beautiful, young girl", and also her friend Caroline Dieter wants to "keep in good memories". When Dieter returns almost exactly one year later (May 19th, 1918), the village "lies in ruins" and seems to be completely destroyed. Full of compassion, he asks himself "Irma Sensée, how might you be now, where might you be?"
The next female friends Dieter met when he was billeted in Merdingen on February 3rd, 1918. He notes down here: "Merdingen is a lovely Village, with young girls even more lovely. [...] In the evenings, we often stroll around or have fun playing "hold in pledge" together with local fmailies. I very well remember Mariechen Menner, Rosa Weber and Rosa Weiß."
In Wambréchies (july 19th,1918), he meets "an intelligent little girl, Valentine Cousin [...] I did conversate well with her in german as well as in french".
the first dance of his life then went to "a lovely Rebekka" in Hoof on December 18th, 1918.
... but his Heart seems to only have belonged to Dorchen.

Sembra pure a me!"
Ricordo molto bene Mariechen Menner, Rosa Weber e Rosa Weiß."
