Vormittags habe ich befehlsgemäß mit dem Komp. Trupp auf einem Mistacker Stationen und Stellungen auszusuchen für die Übung am Nachmittag. Es ist ein böser Dreck, weil plötzlich Tauwetter eingetreten ist. Mittags um 1 Uhr rücke ich mit dem Kompanietrupp und den Nachrichtenschützen zum zweitenmal auf den Acker. Wir bauen eine Doppelleitung und besetzen die Stationen. Es ist eine fürchterliche Scheiße! Wir sitzen und liegen im Dreck und im Wasser. Nach der Übung mit Knallkörperwerfen, die nicht befriedigte, da es nicht die richtigen Knallkörper waren, müssen wir durch tiefes Wasser zurückwaten. Unsere alten Leute werden aus den Zügen herausgezogen. Ich muß auf meinem Posten bleiben. Wilstermann kommt aus dem Urlaub zurück und bringt mir Nachrichten von zu Hause.
In the morning I have to follow orders to seek out bases and positions with the company detachment for the afternoon exercise in a manured field. It's an evil mucky job, because a thaw has suddenly set in. At 1pm I return to the field for a second time with the company detachment and the intelligence recruits. We set up a double circuit line and occupy the bases. What a terrible shitty job! We sit and lie in muck and water. After the exercise with firecrackers, which were not satisfactory as they weren't the right kind of firecracker, we have to wade back through deep water. Our oldies are pulled out of the platoon. I have to stay at my post. Wilstermann comes back from leave and brings me news from home.
