Morgens in aller Frühe Weitermarsch über Escaudoeuvres, Thun-St.Martin, Iwuy, Hordain, Bouchain, Mastaing nach Abscon. Dort schlagen wir unser Biwak auf einer Koppel auf. Zufällig erfahre ich, daß die Ferma 17 [mglw. Fernmelde Abteilung 17] in unserer Nähe liegt. Deshalb gehe ich nachmittags hinüber nach Marquette und besuche dort meinen Freund Siekmann. Auch Albrecht treffe ich dort. Siekmann schiebt gerade Wache, als ich dort ankomme. Wir sind ein bisschen umher geschlendert und haben uns viel erzählt. Am Abend gehe ich nach Abscon zurück.

We continue marching in the very early morning via Escaudoeuvres, Thun-St.Martin, Iwuy, Hordain, Bouchain and Mastaing to Abscon. There, we put up our bivouac on a grazing land. Accidentially, I come to know that Ferma 17 [Unclear: might be Abbreviation for Fernmelde-Abteilung (Signallers Department)] is positioned close to us. Therefore, I walk over to Marquette in the afternoon to visit my friend Siekmann. I also meet Albrecht there. Siekmann is on sentry duty as I arrive there. We roamed around a little and talked a lot. In the evening, I return to Abscon.

Continuiamo la marcia di primo mattino via Escaudoeuvres, Thun-St. Martin, Iwuy, Hordain, Bouchain e Mastaing verso Hasnon. Qui approntiamo il nostro bivacco su una terra adibita a pascolo. Per caso vengo a sapere che Ferma 17 [non chiaro:potrebbe essere l'abbreviazione di Fernmelde-Abteilung (reparto Segnalatori)] è posizionato vicino a noi. Nel pomeriggio, allora, mi incammino verso Marquette per far visita al mio amico Siekmann. Qui trovo pure Albrecht. Siekmann è di sentinella quando arrivo. Ce ne andiamo un po' in giro e chiacchieriamo un sacco. La sera torno ad Abscon.
