Mit meinen Zivilsachen im Koffer fahre ich morgens früh noch einmal, diesmal aber zum letzten Mal nach Schleswig. Am Nachmittag bin ich wieder in Lübeck. Ich bin aus der Wehrmacht entlassen und bin wieder Zivilist.Mit Wirkung vom 21. Oktober 1940 werde ich nachträglich zum Feldwebel befördert.
Damit ist dieser Krieg für mich aus. – Oder werde ich noch einmal wieder Soldat werden müssen?

With my civilian clothes in my case I travel to Schleswig early in the morning once more, but this time it is for the last time. In the afternoon I am back in Lübeck. I have been discharged from the army and am a civilian again.With effect from the 21st of October 1940 I am retrospectively promoted to sergeant.
That means this war is over for me. Or will I have to become a soldier yet again?

AntwortenLöschenAs we saw in the past, Dieter only notes down events during his active military days. No entries for any vacation or other stuff. Consequently, I would expect this one to be the last entry, unless he gets drafted again. And, if so, he might not have anymore the will to note down anything. Things would get much worse than they used to be in 1940.
So when should I start checking back to see new posts? Without something to keep the readers 'plugged in' to the story I (and I would guess most) readers will quit checking the blog and likely then miss the most exiting part of the story.
