- In Mori (Stockelsdorf) bei Lübeck aufgewachsen, habe ich bereits von 1916 bis 1918 am Ersten Weltkrieg im Füsilierregiment "Königin" Nr. 86 teilgenommen. Im August 1939 wurde ich als Veteran in die Wehrmacht eingezogen. In diesem Blog veröffentliche ich mein Kriegstagebuch.

Sonntag. Da im Dorf Kirmes ist, rückt die Kompanie morgens ab und zieht über Westkerke, Oudenburg nach Breedene an den Strand.Inmitten einer ausgesprochenen Dünenlandschaft lassen wir und nieder und nehmen dann ein herrliches Bad. Abends geht es zurück nach Bekegem.
Sunday. Since it is the day of the parish fair, the company leaves in the morning and goes through Westkerke, Oudenburg to the beach at Breedene.We set up our base in the heart of a striking landscape of dunes and then have a wonderful swim. In the evening we return to Bekegem.

5 der am 27. Mai Verwundeten kommen aus de Ers.Btl. zu uns zurück. Die Sollstärke der Kompanie ist damit überschritten. Wird man die paar Alten nun trotzdem behalten? 5 of those wounded on the 27th of May are returning to us from the reserve battalion. This means that we will exceed the theoretical company strength. Will they still hold on to the couple of old guys despite this? FRA

Abends fahren wir auf einem Lastauto mit 10 Mann nach Brügge. Wir sollen ins Theater und uns den „Raub der Sabinerinnen“ ansehen. Unser Platz auf dem 4. Rang ist aber so schlecht, daß wir das Theater verlassen und ins Lokal gehen. In the evening 10 of us go in a lorry to Bruges. We are supposed to go to the theatre to see "The Rape of the Sabine Women".But our seats in the 4th row are so bad that we leave the theatre and go to the pub. FRA
